August 31 – Fly-casting Workshop

**Registration is now closed. We’ll see you on the water!**

Join the Southeast Alaska Land Trust and the Tongass Chapter of Trout Unlimited for a fly-casting workshop for beginner to intermediate fly-casters. A guide from the Tongass Chapter of Trout Unlimited will lead the workshop. Come learn how to fly-cast (or learn how to perfect your cast) while fishing for coho salmon in Gastineau Channel!

When:  August 31st from 9:00am – 11:00am

Where: The workshop will take place at the Southeast Alaska Land Trust’s Marjory & Edgar Huizer Fishing Access Site located 2.7 miles from the bridge on North Douglas Highway (just a few houses past the ski fence on the water side).

Click here to find the location on Google Maps.

The Southeast Alaska Land Trust acquired the Marjory and Edgar Huizer site in 2015 with the purpose of providing recreational and fishing access to the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge and Gastineau Channel. Read more at this link.

What to Bring: Fly rods and fishing supplies are being graciously provided by Trout Unlimited. Please be sure to bring your:
– Fishing Licence
– Rubber Boots (required) and/or waders (preferred)
Feel free to bring your own rod and tackle, if you so choose, and don’t forget your water and snacks!

Cost: The fee is $45 per person and includes fly rods and fishing supplies. This workshop is limited to 10 participants, so don’t wait!

**Please note, all participants must be able to hike down a steep set of stairs and also be able to walk across slippery mudflats to access Gastineau Channel**

THANK YOU for your interest in the 2019 Fly-casting Workshop, and a big thank you to Trout Unlimited for their partnership.

We look forward to fishing with you!
