The Farragut Estuary Easement is a conservation easement of 112 acres of estuarine lands at the mouth of the Farragut River. The Farragut River has been recognized as being eligible for becoming a “National Wild and Scenic River.” This status is saved for only those rivers with outstanding ecological and scenic values. This remote and highly productive estuary is provides extraordinary and vital wildlife habitat and is known for intensive use by numerous species of terrestrial animals and birds, especially migratory waterfowl. This conservation easement will secure these critical wetlands for permanent protection and for the benefit and enjoyment of the Grantors, the people of Petersburg, Alaska, and the State of Alaska.
